Elaine Hagen: Meet candidates at a non-partisan, non-confrontational gathering

Before you make up your mind who’ll earn your vote, or return your vote by mail ballot, please come to the All Candidate Open House. It’s an innovative way to meet local candidates seeking your support, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 23, at the Senior Center in Sonora.

It’s non-partisan, non-affiliated and sponsored by me. Each candidate will have their own table to interact with the public, discuss ideas, share concerns, literature and other information. It’s designed to be informal, civil, educational – not confrontational. It’s a meeting of friends and neighbors with candidates. All local candidates have been invited – including Bob Derlet and Tom McClintock for Congress; Frank Bigelow and Robert Carabas for Assembly; all the Tuolumne Utility District candidates, those running for the Twain Harte School Board and Parks & Recreation.

Since it is non-partisan, hopefully people from every party will feel comfortable attending – Greens, independents, no-preference, Libertarians, Peace & Freedom, Democrats and Republicans. The address is 540 Greenley Road, Sonora, from 5-8 p.m. Send questions to candidateopenhouse@gmail.com or call 209 206-4074.

What would you like to ask your candidates?

Elaine Hagen, Tuolumne
