Roberto Boggeri: Bee stands alone in endorsing Eggman

Your bias certainly shined through your veiled distaste for Republicans.

Let’s look at the local endorsements each candidate has received. Jeff Denham has the backing from both county sheriffs; the Modesto and Manteca police officer associations; Modesto, Manteca, Ceres and Tracy fire departments; the Stanislaus and San Joaquin county farm bureaus and the California Teacher’s Association. Michael Eggman has The Modesto Bee. That’s it.

When you chose to endorse Michael Eggman, you go against law enforcement, farmers and teachers of this valley. Creating a “litmus test” and discounting everything Rep. Denham has done is not only ridiculous, but shows how myopic your publication has become since the start of this election.

Jeff was one of the first Republicans to advocate for immigration reform. He has been a strong voice for the Central Valley, putting us at the table in these water talks. Your reckless endorsement seems to forget about all of his actions due to his choice on who he will be voting for president.

This is not a referendum on Trump. This is an election for who you want to have supporting you in the Central Valley for the next two years. It is because of this, I will proudly be voting for Jeff Denham.
