Paul Neumann: Leslie Beggs a strong critical thinker; should be on YCCD board
As a former two-term trustee, I am writing to support Leslie Beggs for the Yosemite Community College District Board of Trustees. When I served the district, I felt I had two main responsibilities: the first, and most important, was to represent the community of citizens who elected me, as well as the college community of faculty, staff and students; my secondary responsibility was to support the district’s chancellor.
I believe Leslie Beggs will follow that tradition. She is an intelligent, critical thinker who, unlike most trustees, has an intimate knowledge of how a college is supposed to work. She is familiar with the issues facing faculty, staff, students and the administration. As a strong critical thinker, Leslie can be relied upon to ask hard questions even when those questions cause discomfort for other trustees or the chancellor.
She will always put the public good and the best interests of the college ahead of automatically approving every wish of the chancellor. Leslie Beggs deserves the vote of our community members.
Paul Neumann, YCCD Trustee 2000-2008, Modesto
