John Mendes: Nascimento helped us slow speeding traffic
My wife and I have lived on Roberts Road in Turlock for the past 13 years. Speeding has always been an issue on our street, as it serves as a direct route to both Golden State Boulevard and Pitman High School. People often drive over 50 mph in our neighborhood!
This has obviously concerned us because many young families live on our street, and their children walk along Roberts Road to get to school. After Steven Nascimento was elected to the city council, I reached out to him to see if anything could be done to stop the speeding on Roberts Road. Since that time, Steven has worked with my neighbors and I to set up speed enforcement days with Turlock police, and to redesign Roberts Road so it no longer looks like a racetrack.
I don’t know much about city politics, but I know Steven Nascimento helped slow down the cars on my street, and that’s enough for me!
