Stan Van Winkle: Nascimento stood by his principles when it counted; Bublak didn’t
I am a life-long resident of Turlock, a former city of Turlock employee and a 30-year resident of District 4. I am supporting Steven Nascimento for in District 4. Steven is the only sitting council member – including the mayor – who did the right thing regarding the downtown farmers market. Steven’s vote was based on ethics, not by who donated thousands of campaign dollars – unlike Steven’s opponent.
Steven and his family have lived in my district for 10 years, unlike his opponent who moved into District 4 just because she couldn’t run in her former district until 2018. She should have moved to District 2 where her background in law enforcement might have helped clean up the neighborhood. Instead, she chose District 4 with all of her big-money developer contributors.
The city experienced numerous layoffs in 2009. Steven’s opponent chose to bend to political pressure from developers with an axe to grind and destroy a good department. Dedicated co-workers lost their homes and others had to relocate. Options were available to save those jobs, but doing the right thing fell on deaf ears. Join me in supporting Steven Nascimento, the only clear ethical choice.
