Michael & Patricia Cousins: Frohman gets it right, Measure L leads to sprawl

Re “If approved, there are no offramps from Measure L” (Page 1D, Oct. 9): Thank you for your Sunday Issues & Ideas stories addressing Measure L. And thank you Bruce Frohman for – once again – offering an articulate and focused opposition to a measure that rewards developers and penalizes the rest of us. As Frohman summarizes, if Measure L succeeds “Developers will have road improvements subsidized by taxpayers.” Further “Measure L is not a safety measure.”

No evidence supports that yet another bridge over the Tuolumne River will save any lives. (Isn’t the restoration of the Seventh Street bridge intended to assist with efficient river crossing?) Instead, the taxing proposals will permit yet more land to be paved and encourage higher road speeds and all the problems more development promises. As Frohman points out, “No jobs and more houses equals a worse quality of life.” Thank you for your words of wisdom. Think. Vote no on Measure L.
