Patrick Kimes: Thankful for Modesto residents who support law enforcement
Last night I was in a local Panda Express getting some dinner. Just as I was about to pay for my dinner, I saw a man get up from a table and begin to walk toward me. He was clearly on a mission and began to reach behind his back. As a police officer in uniform, this clearly got my attention. When he reached me, he told the clerk he was going to pay for my dinner. I politely thanked him and told him it was not necessary. He told me it was and "it was going to happen.”
He then thanked me for my service and introduced himself and his girlfriend who was sitting at the table. This is one of many, almost daily, acts of kindness and generosity that I and my fellow officers have experienced over the last several months. In a time where law enforcement in under siege a lot of the time by the media and other anti-law enforcement groups, these acts of kindness are so very appreciated by the officers who bravely serve this city every day. I just want to thank all of you who support law enforcement.
