Allen R. Mitterling: Despite her flaws, Clinton far better choice for president

In this election both Republican and Democratic presidential candidates have serious flaws. Hillary Clinton has spent much of her life in public service as first lady, senator and secretary of state. With that inevitably comes baggage, and she has her share of it. Donald Trump has spent his whole life glorifying himself, screwing other people and entities in business deals, taking his companies into bankruptcies and paying employees, contractors and creditors pennies on the dollar.

I read that he and his companies have been in over 4,000 lawsuits, many of which were against him. Tony Schwartz, the ghostwriter who, not Trump, wrote the “Art of the Deal” said that Trump “lied strategically. He had a complete lack of conscience about it.” Schwartz said he would rename the book ‘The Sociopath.”

Republicans Mitt Romney, John Kasich, Meg Whitman and Robert Gates have all said Trump is unfit to be president. Recently George H.W. Bush is reported to have said he will vote for Clinton. When people seriously study Trump’s life it should be an easy call that Hillary, despite her flaws, is a far better choice for president. Trump is a snake-oil salesman who will say anything whether it is true or not. Hopefully voters will see through that.
