Robert Wright: Trump’s math is pretty shaky

I continue to hear Donald Trump reiterate his words on Clinton’s “30 years of failed policies.” Every single Trump surrogate, on a daily basis, continues to hammer home the 30 years of Hillary’s failed policies. Now that this election feels like it is entering its 30th year, I thought I would do some fact checking. Hillary served as a New York senator from 2001-09, a total of two terms. Two terms as a senator equates to eight years. Hillary also served as a secretary of state from 2009-13, a total of four years. Now using a modern math process known as addition, I put together eight plus four and came up with the number 12. I double-checked my math five times and it still came up 12. My conclusion: either a secret society exists and is intentionally covering up 18 years of Hillary’s failed polices or 12 is the new 30.

I fear all this is lowering the bar for elections to come. We the people deserve better.

Robert Wright, Hilmar
