Lynne Kellner: Crows Landing Road needs safety fixes now
Re “Crows Landing rethink” (Page A1, Jan. 18): I read the article with mixed feelings. While I wholeheartedly agree the road is in need of a major overhaul, I am concerned that the more minor fixes, such as re-striping and reflective dots, will not be funded for two or three years. The road is a danger to those who travel on it in its current condition.
I have commuted to the county facility at Crows Landing and Hackett since it went up in 1994. It has always been a challenging drive. Most of the road markings have worn off, there is insufficient lighting and people tend to cross the street whenever and wherever they want. Now, the lights on the 7th Street Bridge are dark, and fog and rain have added to the intensity of the drive.
The county moved many of its services out there 20 years ago, and very little has been done to improve the area since. I implore city and county officials overseeing this project to help keep their employees and customers safe by providing a safer route for us to travel for work and business.
