Art Rossetti: Those ‘inside tips’ advertised on radio, don’t fall for them

You’ve heard all the radio commercials: “We have the inside info!” If they really do have “inside information” that would enable you to win bets, ask yourself this: What do they need you for?

If their info is so good, why are they just not placing bets themselves and making bucketloads of money? Why would they take on the overhead to buy commercial time on all the other sports talk radio shows? They wouldn’t need to. If enough people bought the info and bet it, then it would move the odds in the opposite direction. It is a scam!

And don’t get fooled by calling their 800 number for an “absolutely free pick.” All they want is to capture your phone number so some high-pressure sales rep can call you. If you turn him down then they will sell your number and you’ll start getting calls from every clown who calls himself a handicapper. How do I know? I called Adam Wins once five years ago out of curiosity and have been hounded by calls ever since. I should have known better. Now you do.
