David K. Ford: Another step toward Mexifornia

Twenty years ago my mother told me that her Mexican co-workers at a local vegetable processing plant were always going on about how they were going to take back California and turn it into “Mexifornia” (their word for it). I told her she was nuts, won’t happen.

I see now that I’m the one who was crazy. This latest move by California to let illegals get driver’s licenses is definitely one step closer to “Mexifornia.” It’s one thing to relax the rules, but to relax the rules to make it extra easy only for illegal Mexicans? They need one form of ID while every other illegal not from Mexico needs at least two. Where is the outrage, not to mention the common sense on the part of our elected officials not to permit this in the first place?

My American friend recently retired to a house on the beach in Cabo. He leased it because it’s illegal in Mexico for foreigners to own beach property. They have rules. They don’t want “foreigners” taking over. Here in “Mexifornia,” we’re just handing our state right over to the illegals.
