Loreta Freitas: A skating rink can lead to exercise and romance
Re “Will numbers pan out for new rink?” (Page A3, Aug. 4): This is to say it was good to hear about the efforts to open a skating rink in Modesto. It is what we need; wish that someday they would have one in Turlock, also.
I met my husband at the old Merry Gardens Skating Rink in Modesto in 1947. We have been married 68 years in November. My girlfriend and I would take the bus to Modesto to go skating each Saturday and enjoyed it very much. It was good exercise.
