Julie Jordan: Parents should teach by example, use crosswalks
My granddaughter began school today and I got the honor of picking her up from her Transitional Kindergarten class. Upon exiting the school I was amazed at the number of parents who were walking between traffic, weaving through moving vehicles and across a very busy street. Some were not even holding their young childrens hands. At the nearby crosswalk were very eager and diligent safety patrol workers. Parents and grandparents, you are setting a terrible example, not to mention putting a young child at risk. Crosswalks and safety patrols are there for a reason – use them!
