Tom Perona: If you don’t like Trump, don’t vote for him

Re “Trump is just a fount of hate” (Letters, July 26): A crime is an unlawful act. A criminal is someone who commits a crime. It is illegal to cross the border of the United States without a visa, therefore, it is a, “crime,” and the perpetrator is a “criminal.”

Unfortunately the whole world cannot live in the United States, because of limited space and resources. Therefore, we have to regulate who enters, via our legal system, to ensure our quality of life for our future generations. It is nothing personal. Pretty much all other countries do the same.

Furthermore, the United States is home to many who hunger and live in poverty. Shouldn’t we dedicate our resources to our own citizens in need before our neighbors?

Finally, I was very disturbed over the writer’s understanding of free speech. Free speech means a person can say pretty much what they want without persecution. Just don’t vote for him if you don’t care for his views.
