Bill Welch: Kids are cleaning up after those too lazy

On April 22, while walking my dog at Eisenhut Park, I witnessed a truly inspiring but very sad event. Two young ladies, who obviously run a day care in the area, were at the park with several small, young children. After putting on small blue plastic gloves, the children proceeded to happily pick up trash strewn about the playground area, like an Easter egg hunt. A most commendable act of citizenship.

How sad that adults and young adults who use the park and picnic area are too stupid or lazy to put their trash in a garbage can five feet away. I see this on a daily basis. How sad that 4 and 5 year old children volunteer to pick up your garbage. It’s no wonder Modesto looks like a trash dump. The young ladies are to be commended for their act of civic kindness.
