Heat advisory for Northern California for Thursday and Friday

On Tuesday at 4:48 p.m. a heat advisory was issued by the NWS Eureka CA valid from Thursday noon until Friday 10 p.m. The advisory is for Southeastern Interior Mendocino, Western Lake, Southwestern Lake and Eastern Lake as well as Lake County.

The NWS informs, "Moderate to Major HeatRisk expected."

"Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses especially for those without cooling or hydration," says the NWS.

This advisory is in effect until Friday at 10 p.m.

• Be cautious outdoors: Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside.
• Time your activities wisely: When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
• Know the red flags: Understand the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
• Dress for comfort: Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing to stay cool.

To minimize risks during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) advises incorporating frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas. If someone experiences heat-related symptoms, promptly relocate them to a cool and shaded spot. In case of an emergency, dial 911.
