Beach hazards statement affecting Ventura County Beaches from Tuesday to Thursday

The NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA released a beach hazards statement at 7:22 p.m. on Sunday valid from Tuesday 8 a.m. until Thursday 8 p.m. for Ventura County Beaches.

The NWS informs, "Dangerous rip currents and breaking waves due to elevated surf of 3 to 6 feet with local sets to 7 feet on south facing beaches."

"There is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats nearshore," adds the NWS. "Remain out of the water due to hazardous swimming conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks."

This statement is in effect until Thursday at 8 p.m.
