First days in the 90s for 2025 are about to hit Modesto, weather service says
Modesto-area residents this week will feel the year’s first days of temperatures in the 90s, according to the National Weather Service forecast.
“Expect warmer high temperatures this week across northern California, especially this Friday-Saturday,” the agency’s Sacramento office posted on X on Monday afternoon.
According to NWS, Thursday’s high temperature is expected to be near 90 degrees. So far this year, the highest temperature recorded by the Modesto Irrigation District in 2025 was 87 degrees on March 25.
The weather service predicts Friday’s high will be nearly 94 degrees. Saturday, the predicted high is near 95 degrees.
Overnight lows during this hot period are expected to be in the upper 50s to low 60s.
Expect a cooling-off Sunday. The weather service forecasts the high that day to be near 83 degrees. That cooling trend is expected to continue into Monday, when the high is expected to reach near 74 degrees.
Weather service data from May 2024 shows the high temperature average during the first five days of the month was close to 73 degrees. For that date range this year, the high temperature average is around 81 degrees.
According to the data, the highest recorded temperature in a single day in May 2024 was 94 degrees on May 31.
To help protect yourself in high temperatures settings, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends drinking plenty of fluids, staying in a air-conditioned indoor location as much as possible, scheduling outdoor activities accordingly and never leaving children or pets in vehicles.
