Modesto area to dip below 90 degrees. See when brutal heat wave finally will break

The Modesto area can expect a couple more hot days before a welcome dip into the 80s over the weekend.

The National Weather Service forecast a high of 107 degrees on Wednesday, July 24, and 102 for Thursday. Friday could reach 95, followed by 87 on Saturday and 89 on Sunday. The high could be 92 on Monday and 94 on Tuesday.

The weekend temperatures would be about 10 degrees cooler than the historical average for late July. They are safer and more pleasant for people doing yardwork, visiting parks and the like.

Saturday should be a pleasant morning for an outing, perhaps to the Modesto Certified Farmers Market, the Turlock Certified Farmers Market or the Oakdale Morning Market.

Residents can expect maybe a dozen 100-plus days over an typical summer. Modesto has recorded 24 of them in June and July 2024. Ten of those days were above 105, topping out at 110 on July 6 and 11.
