A Red Flag Warning signaling extreme fire danger will be in effect in Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties until Tuesday morning.

The northerly winds, gusting between 25 and 35 mph, and dry conditions make it easy for grass fires to start and spread rapidly. The National Weather Service issued the Red Flag Warning in the Central Valley from Modesto to Redding.

The warning is in effect until 8 a.m. Tuesday.

The West Stanislaus Fire Protection District posted the warning on Facebook, recommending that people take precautions to prevent fires and be aware of the conditions. People should have an emergency plan in case of a fire starting near them.

The safety precautions include obeying bans on burning, avoiding activities that create open flames or sparks, and keeping vehicles off dry grass, the Weather Service said.

The Corral Fire in San Joaquin County recently burned more than 14,000 acres after it was sparked in the foothills nears Tracy.
