More rain in the Modesto forecast this week. Here’s how much could fall, and when
Two storm systems this week could bring a combined rainfall of as much as 1.5 inches in Modesto, according to the National Weather Service.
The first storm is predicted to drop 0.5 to 1 inch between Tuesday evening and Wednesday evening, the weather service said in an email Monday morning.
The second, expected late Friday and into Saturday, could add 0.25 to 0.5 inches more.
The seven-day forecast for Modesto says there will be patchy fog before noon Tuesday, followed by a 30% chance of rain after 4 p.m.
The chance of rain rises to 90% Tuesday night. A south-southeast wind of 8 to 13 mph also is expected, with gusts as high as 18 mph.
Wednesday, the chance of precipitation is 80% — mostly showers before 4 p.m. By Wednesday night, the chance of rain falls to 30%
Thursday should be mostly sunny, the weather service says. Friday will be partly sunny, with a slight chance of showers after 10 a.m.
There’s a slight chance of showers Friday night and into early Saturday, before 1 a.m. Then a chance of rain again after 4 a.m.
Rain is likely Saturday, the forecast says. Sunday should be sunny.
Daily high temperatures are predicted to be in the 50s all week, starting at 56 degrees Tuesday and gradually lowering to 51 by Sunday.
So far this rain season, 2.74 inches have been recorded by the Modesto Irrigation District. The historic average at this point in the season is 4.42 inches.
