No more 90s for a few days. Just how hot will it get in Modesto this week?

National Weather Service

Four days of triple-digit temperatures lie ahead for the Modesto area, the National Weather Service forecast says.

The predicted high for Sunday is 97 degrees, and then come days of 100 degrees or more through Thursday. The weather service has issued a heat advisory from 11 a.m. Monday through 11 p.m. Thursday.

The daily highs are expected to be near 101 Monday, 104 Tuesday and Wednesday, and 100 Thursday. During that stretch, the overnight lows are expected to range from 72 to 74 degrees.

If the temperature hits 104 Tuesday, it will tie the record high for the date, Aug. 15. It was 104 also in 1996 and 2020, according to Modesto Irrigation District records.

On Wednesday, though, 104 would fall several degrees short of the record for that date. The temperature reached 109 degrees in Modesto on Aug. 16, 2020.

Friday’s anticipated high is 94, with an overnight low of 65. Saturday should reach 90.

The NWS seven-day forecast was updated Sunday morning to include a 20% chance of isolated showers in Modesto between 4 and 8 p.m.

According to Modesto Irrigation District records, the last triple-digit heat in Modesto was Aug. 7, which it reached 101 degrees. The days since have been in the low to mid-90s.
