Weekend expected to usher in fall-like weather in Modesto with isolated showers

National Weather Service

After a mostly warmer than normal October, it’s going to feel like fall in Modesto starting this weekend, with daytime highs around the low to mid-70s and overnight lows around 50 degrees.

“It’s pretty much going to usher in fall-like weather, which we’ve been missing so far,” said meteorologist Robert Baruffaldi with the National Weather Service in Sacramento.

He said Modesto could get some isolated showers as the weather system moves through the Valley over the weekend. The seven-day forecast for Modesto from the weather service’s Sacramento office puts the chance of showers in Modesto at 30%.

But Baruffaldi said the nearest significant rain could be in the foothills: Sonora could get one-tenth to two-tenths of an inch over the weekend.

“If anyone is going up to the mountains, they might get a little snow out of it,” he said.

He said there could be a dusting at the 6,000-foot elevation and a few inches of snow above 7,000 feet in the Sierra.

Modesto will remain unseasonably warm through Friday, with daytime highs of 83 to 87 degrees and nighttime lows of 56 to 60. Baruffaldi said the normal high and low this time of year are 74 and 49 degrees.

The weather is expected to be seasonable starting Saturday through Tuesday, with daytime highs of 69 to 74 degrees and nighttime lows of 49 to 52.
