The week’s weather: Modesto temperature forecast is full of ups and downs

jfarrow@modbee.com

After a second day of temperatures near or at triple digits, the Modesto area will have a roller-coaster ride of daily highs in the week ahead.

Friday reached 100 degrees, according to the National Weather Service, which records temperatures at the Modesto Airport. The Modesto Irrigation District, which collects data at its downtown office, measured a high of 99. Plenty hot either way.

The weather service says the high Saturday will be near 100. There will be a northwest wind of 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. The wind and gusts are expected to continue through Monday.

Sunday’s high will be dramatically lower, near 87, and Monday a bit cooler still, near 85.

Come Tuesday, the mercury will be rising again. The high is predicted to be near 90, and climbing to near 97 Wednesday.

Thursday’s high will be near 95, the weather service says, and Friday will drop to a near-88 high.

That’s as far as the weather service’s seven-day forecast goes. But if you like to pick and choose the temperatures you like best, The Weather Channel forecasts at Weather.com say that Friday will be just 81 degrees and next Saturday and Sunday will reach just 82 and 84, respectively.
