Filing period remains open for two supervisorial seats in Stanislaus County
The filing period for local candidates closed Friday for the March 3 primary election.
But the window remains open until 5 p.m. Wednesday for two seats on the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors.
Donna Linder, county registrar of voters, said the period extends for the District 1 and District 5 supervisorial seats because the incumbents, Kristin Olsen and Jim DeMartini, are not seeking another term in office.
Olsen has represented the Riverbank and Oakdale area and DeMartini has been the supervisor for Ceres, part of south Modesto and the western portion of the county, including Patterson and Newman. Supervisor Vito Chiesa will be unopposed on the ballot for another term in District 2 (Turlock and Hughson).
Three candidates are running thus far in county District 1: Matthew “Buck” Condit, a captain with the Stanislaus Consolidated fire district; Modesto Councilman Bill Zoslocki; and Waterford Mayor Michael Van Winkle.
Attorney Tom Hallinan and Ceres Councilman Michael Kline are running in District 5. Ceres Councilman Channce Condit has pulled papers.
Three contested Superior Court judgeships are on the March ballot. Voters will choose between Modesto Attorney Colleen Van Egmond and Jeff Mangar, a chief prosecutor for the district attorney.
A second judicial race features Deputy District Attorney John Mayne; Jared Carrillo, a supervising nonprofit attorney; and Kenneth Hara, a judicial officer. In addition, Chief Deputy District Attorney Annette Rees and Attorney Samual Getrich are hoping to serve on the bench.
Superior Court judges Nancy Ashley, Linda McFadden, Sonny Sandhu, Kellee Westbrook, Robert Westbrook and Thomas Zeff are not opposed.
