The numbers a Maryland woman selected while playing a lottery game were not random, she told lottery officials.

“These numbers are lucky,” the Charles County woman said.

About three years prior, her husband had used the same set of numbers and won $14,847, the Maryland Lottery said in a March 26 news release.

Yet, she was still surprised when she saw she’d won March 20, according to lottery officials. The lucky player won $73,767 playing Racetrax — the same game her husband had won.

I immediately called my husband at work to tell him how I won using those same numbers,” she told the lottery.

But when her husband got the call, he didn’t believe her, he told lottery officials.

“She plays too much,” he said. “But, I knew she was serious this time when she sent me a picture she took of the message.”

The lucky player bought her ticket at a tavern in Fort Washington, about a 30-mile drive south from Washington, D.C., lottery officials said.

She played the numbers 8, 12, 4 and 2 for 20 drawings with a bonus, the lottery said.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
