Pup who’s ‘seen too much heartbreak’ needs home after spending year in Indiana shelter
A once frightened little pup is a brand new girl after arriving at an Indiana shelter — where she has been for almost a year.
Hazy, an almost 3-year-old terrier, pitbull mix, has been showing off her fashion sense as well as her love for people at the Humane Society for Hamilton County in Fishers for a heavy minute or two now. The sweet girl has spent a better part of her younger years getting familiar with the shelter walls.
“Nearly a year ago, Hazy arrived at our shelter—abandoned, scared, underweight, and unsure of who she could trust,” the shelter said in a March 17 Facebook post. “She was just a one-year-old pup who had already seen too much heartbreak. Now, she’s spent nearly half her life waiting… hoping… wondering if someone will ever choose her.
“But Hazy hasn’t lost hope — and neither have we.”
Hazy has been through some hardship before arriving at the shelter, her pet profile notes, but her adorable nature has managed to shine through during the time she’s been interacting with the people around her.
“Today, she’s a different dog. She’s stronger. Braver,” the shelter said. “Full of love and loyalty for the person she knows is out there. Hazy’s heart is big, but it belongs to just one lucky soul—she’s the kind of companion who bonds deeply and just wants to be your one and only.”
While she may get along with other dogs in the household, she’s definitely not one to share her human with a cat or children.
“She’s housebroken, crate-trained, and knows all her commands like a champ. She thrives with routine and would love a fenced yard to stretch her legs and enjoy some sunshine. While she’s not a fan of cats or a chaotic household, she may enjoy another dog,” the shelter said. “Mostly, she just wants someone patient, kind, and willing to give her the peace and love she’s waited so long for.”
