Watch unbelievable ‘catch’ — as football flies into passing car at TX high school game
Everyone knows that everything in Texas is bigger, especially when it comes to handling the pigskin during an athlete’s formative years. The Lone Star State takes high school football seriously as depicted in the TV series “Friday Night Lights.”
But there is something you never witnessed on the show that was recently captured in a bizarre video during a high school football game in Waco.
As the Gordon Longhorns played in the Live Oak Classical on Sept. 15, Live Oak coach Brice Helton posted video footage of an unbelievable “catch” made following a PAT (Point After Touchdown) kick through the uprights. Video shows the ball sailing with absolute perfect timing into the open window of a passing SUV.
Braking is apparently for amateurs because it seems like the driver didn’t even mildly step on the brakes.
The video captured the reaction from both players on the field and the sidelines, with one guy putting his hands on his head in a dramatic fashion after the football, well, lands.
The video quickly made the social media rounds after Helton posted it on X, formally known as Twitter, and the comment section admired the play, which many considered a work of art.
“10/10. Immaculate accidental timing & precision,” one person posted on X.
“The reaction from the kicking team of celebrating only after it entered the car. This is peak male happiness,” another said.
“That’s incredible,” someone observed.
“Who ever took the video did a great job thought I had seen lots of strange things but this is one on my list,” one person noted.
“That should be worth 3 points at least,” someone commented.
“Who drives with windows open in Texas?” another asked.
The Longhorns took the game 58-8, by the way.
