An award for top musical artist this year will go to a woman — because no male artists were nominated in that category for the first time in history.

All six nominees for the MTV Video Music Awards Artist of the Year are women for the first time since the category was introduced in 2017, reports say.

The nominees are Beyoncé, Doja Cat, Karol G, Nicki Minaj, Shakira and Taylor Swift.

It’s also the first time two Latin artists — Karol G and Shakira — have been nominated, after the first ever Latin nominee — Bad Bunny — won last year, Billboard reported.

Women and LGBTQ+ artists also dominated Video of the Year nominees. The artists and their respective videos nominated in that category are: Doja Cat’s “Attention,” Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers,” Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl,” Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire,” Sam Smith’s and Kim Petras’ “Unholy,” SZA’s “Kill Bill” and Swift’s “Anti-Hero.”

Swift and SZA lead the pack for the most nominations.

Swift, along with her song and music video for “Anti-Hero,” is nominated for eight awards: Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop song, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects and Best Editing.

SZA is up for six awards: Video of the Year (“Kill Bill”), Song of the Year (“Kill Bill”), Best R&B (“Shirt”), Best Direction (“Kill Bill”), Best Art Direction (“Shirt”), and Best Editing (“Kill Bill”).
