Window washers stuck outside 42nd floor when equipment stops working, MA officials say
Firefighters in Boston rescued a pair of window washers who were stuck outside the 42nd floor of a skyscraper, officials said.
The Boston Fire Department tweeted that it was carrying out a “tech rescue” shortly after noon on April 7.
In a follow-up tweet, the department said that officials were able to get to the 42nd floor of the building and remove one of the windows. The two window washers were rescued and both were unharmed, the department said.
The men’s equipment failed while they were outside the building, officials told The Boston Globe.
Capt. Paul Lyons told the outlet that the two men were calm during the rescue.
One of the men even waved at a news helicopter during the rescue, Boston 25 reported.
“They do that for a living, they weren’t panicked at all,” Boston Fire Department Deputy Chief Brian Tully told the outlet.
The two men were safe by 1:01 p.m., the fire department said.
