“Dancing with the Stars” has been a staple of ABC’s primetime lineup since it debuted in 2005, but viewers will soon have to look elsewhere for the iconic reality TV show.

Disney+ will be the new home for “Dancing with the Stars” this fall, as the iconic show moves away from ABC. Disney owns ABC.

“Dancing with the Stars” will be the first live series on the streaming service, which currently features content from Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, beloved Disney animated movies and its own original content.

“The show’s broad appeal, as well as the overwhelming popularity of its Disney-themed competition nights, make Disney+ the perfect home for ‘Dancing with the Stars’ while continuing to expand our demographic reach,” Kareem Daniel, chairman Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution, said in a statement.

The show has been picked up for two more seasons, which will be the 31st and 32nd for the series

Deadline considers “Dancing with the Stars” to be “the highest-profile, most established and popular series” to make the jump to streaming.

“The platform has tiptoed into the competition show genre with programs like ‘Foodtastic’ and ‘Be Our Chef,’ but nothing has made the kind of noise that DWTS has for so many years on ABC,” Deadline reported.

The show, currently hosted by superstar Tyra Banks, has reportedly dipped in viewership in recent years, but last season’s finale still had 6.8 million viewers — its most since October 2020.

Disney+ subscriptions start at $7.99 per month.
