Motorcyclist killed after ramming into back of 18-wheeler, Louisiana police say

A 35-year-old motorcyclist was killed after crashing into an 18-wheeler on a Louisiana freeway on March 10, police say.

The Louisiana State Police say they’re still trying to figure out what happened.

Salvatore Adams, a Slidell local, was riding his 2001 Suzuki GSX-R1000 motorcycle on Interstate 12 behind an 18-wheeler truck when he crashed into the rear of the Freighliner’s trailer, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash happened about 4 p.m. near Airport Road in Slidell, northeast of Lake Pontchartrain, according to police.

Adams was wearing a helmet .

Although troopers don’t believe that speed or driver impairment was a factor in the crash, toxicology samples were taken from both drivers. The crash it still under investigation, the police said.
