Road rage clash over ‘vaccinated’ sticker leads woman to flash gun, New Mexico cops say
A woman is accused of honking and yelling at a driver over his “vaccinated” bumper sticker before pulling a gun on him in New Mexico, police said.
The driver told police that the woman, Christina Blair, 33, of Albuquerque honked and yelled obscenities about his pro-vaccine bumper sticker while they were at a red light on Feb. 27, Albuquerque police said in a criminal complaint.
He put his hand out the window to wave her around around him, police said, but the woman continued to follow him.
She then threw a water bottle at his car while they were stopped at an intersection, police said. It frightened the man so he told police he put his car in reverse by mistake —and backed into Blair’s vehicle.
When he pulled into a Walgreens parking lot to give the woman his insurance information, she pulled out a handgun and he observed her “rack the slide” to load a bullet in the chamber, according to the complaint.
The man backed away and called 911, police said.
He was recording his interaction with the woman and showed police a video that caught her reaching into her car for the gun and then loading it, police said.
Police arrested Blair at her home on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The woman told police she saw the sticker, honked at him and threw a water bottle at his car. But she told police she pulled out a gun after the two got in a fight, and she became scared of him.
Police determined the woman could have left the scene without wielding a gun.
She has a court hearing on March 3 to determine if she will be held in custody or released before trial.
Blair was convicted in 2007 of aggravated assault, Fox 8 reported, but the facts of that case were not available online.
