Watch crews rescue man knocked out after he flips off California bridge and hits water

A man was knocked unconscious Monday when he smacked into the water after attempting to flip off a California bridge, according to police.

The man, who has not been named, was reportedly drinking before he jumped off the Ponderosa Bridge in Colfax, witnesses told police.

Footage shows emergency responders from several departments hike down rocks to the water’s edge, where friends pulled the man out of the water and laid him to recover from the jump, according to a Facebook post by the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

Police said the man regained consciousness before first responders arrived, but he “was still very disoriented and in pain.” They said he is “expected to be OK,” the Facebook post reads.

After the man’s condition was stabilized, he was taken to a nearby hospital via air ambulance, according to police.
