Video shows semi blowing over on Utah highway. 45 were toppled, cops say

Winds in Utah were so strong during a Sept. 8 storm that 45 semi-trucks were knocked on their sides on a freeway, according to the Utah Highway Patrol, and a patrol car dashcam caught video of one truck falling to the ground.

Winds reached hurricane-strength speeds in Weber County, police tweeted. Utah Highway Patrol restricted travel on Interstate 15 for high-profile vehicles in Davis County at the time the video was captured, but restrictions had been lifted in Weber County by that time, according to police.

The dashcam video shows wind gusts topple one semi while another laid on its side on the ground. At least one person was killed during the windstorm and four semi drivers were injured, KJZZ reported.

Wind speeds reached upwards of 90 mph around Salt Lake City, knocking down trees and damaging property, according to the National Weather Service. Farmington City declared a state of emergency after the windstorm severely damaged property in the area, KUTV reported.
