Trump campaign spending $1 million on ads after Biden’s ‘you ain’t black’ comments

President Trump’s reelection campaign plans on releasing digital ads regarding Joe Biden’s recent comments, where he said voters “ain’t black” if they consider voting for Trump, media outlets reported.

The campaign is spending $1 million on ads focusing on Biden’s remarks, Politico reported. A video montage of Biden’s comment is scheduled to air nationally as well as an ad on the 1994 crime bill, which Biden supported, will run in swing states, according to Politico.

Biden went on Charlamagne tha God’s radio show “The Breakfast Club” on Friday and spoke about his record on race, McClatchy News reported.

When the host said Biden should come to New York because he had more questions, Biden replied: “You’ve got more questions? Well I tell you what, if you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black,” video posted on YouTube shows.

Later on Friday, Biden said on a call with black business leaders that he regrets his comments, The Hill reported.

“I shouldn’t have been such a wise guy. I shouldn’t have been so cavalier,” Biden said, according to The Hill. “I don’t take it for granted at all and no one should have to vote for any party based on their race, religion or background. There are African Americans who think Trump is worth voting for. I don’t think so and I’m prepared to put my record against his, that was the bottom line and it was really unfortunate, I shouldn’t have been so cavalier.”

The crime bill ad will say that the legislation “destroyed millions of black lives” while the “You ain’t black” montage will appear on multiple platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and Google, according to Politico.

Trump’s reelection campaign called Biden’s comments “racist and dehumanizing.”

“White liberal elitists have continuously dictated which Black Americans are allowed to come to the table and have a voice,” Katrina Pierson, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign, said in a news release. “It is clear now more than ever, following these racist and dehumanizing remarks, that Joe Biden believes Black men and women are incapable of being independent or free thinking. He truly believes that he, a 77-year-old white man, should dictate how Black people should behave.”

Trump’s campaign is also selling $30 shirts with “#YouAintBlack” on them.

Trump got 8% support among African American voters in the 2016 presidential election and is hoping to achieve gains in battleground states, The Hill reported.
