Modesto man accused of sexually abusing Turlock girl

A 29-year-old Modesto man was arrested Monday afternoon on suspicion of having a sex with a young girl in Turlock.

The girl, whose exact age was not released but who is under 10 years old, told her mother in May that she was inappropriately touched by the suspect, said Turlock Police Officer Steve Rodrigues.

The sexual abuse occurred during at least two incidents at a home in south Turlock.

The suspect is known to the victim, but Rodrigues would not say whether they are related or whether the suspect and the victim were living together at the time of the abuse.

On Monday the suspect, Tobias Salgado Sandoval, went to the Turlock Police Department for a voluntary interview with detectives.

He was arrested during the interview on suspicion of sexual intercourse with a child under age 10 and two counts of oral copulation or penetration with a child under age 10.

Rodrigues said detectives do not believe there are other victims but ask anyone with information about the case to contact Detective Frank Navarro at 209-664-7319.
