It was a star-studded night at California State University, Stanislaus, on Thursday. But not the same kind of stars who will grace the Academy Awards ceremony Sunday.

These stars came courtesy of the faculty and students of the school’s Physics Department, who opened up the observatory on top of the Naraghi Hall of Science for three hours.

Attendees got the chance to look through smaller telescopes as well as the university’s large telescope. A projection on the wall helped those new to astronomy find and identify constellations they saw in the sky.
