Turlock police investigate shooting that leaves one man injured

A man was shot while he and another man were confronted at a Turlock home by two people inside, police said.

The victim, 32, was shot in the abdomen and leg, but his wounds were described as not life-threatening, according to Mayra Lewis of the Turlock Police Department.

Lewis said that about 10:10 p.m., two men arrived at a home in the 800 block of Angelus Street. When they got to the door, they noticed it was ajar. As one man tried to enter the house, and the other stayed behind, he was confronted by a man inside with a handgun, according to Lewis.

A second, apparently unarmed, man inside the house ran to the front and got into a confrontation with the man who had stayed behind. That man who’d stayed behind became the shooting victim when the armed man then opened fire, according to Lewis.

Witnesses saw a tan sport utility vehicle leaving the area of the shooting. Officers later stopped a vehicle matching that description. A man inside the vehicle was arrested on an unrelated weapons charge.

One of the men inside the house was described as a white male in his early 20s, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and 150 pounds. A witness said he was wearing a Raiders hooded sweat shirt and dark pants. There was no description of the other man.

The case remains under investigation.
