Armloads of bedding, piles of towels and suitcases full to bursting heralded another sign of autumn approaching, the annual student shlep of pertinent possessions into the dorm. School starts Monday for the 690 dorm residents moving into California State University, Stanislaus this weekend. Roughly 9,000 students will start classes, a number likely to grow as final numbers are crunched. The school will have a 4.6 percent rise in full-time equivalent spaces thanks to better funding this fall.
