Art Around Town kicks off in February in downtown Turlock
Art Around Town is returning to downtown Turlock this year, bringing a series of free evening art walks that celebrate local arts and culture.
Organized by a committee of art enthusiasts and supporters, the events will take place at various downtown galleries, arts venues and businesses. The goal is to introduce the community to local artists, artisans and galleries while promoting Turlock’s downtown business and cultural scene.
“We are excited for the art walk to return to downtown Turlock and to include several new-to-downtown art businesses,” said Carnegie Arts Center Assistant Director Megan Hennes in a press release. “We think this event will bring attention to what’s going on in art, culture, shopping and dining in Turlock’s vibrant downtown district.”
Participating galleries and businesses, located near Main Street, will offer refreshments along with art, antiques and locally handcrafted items available for viewing and purchase.
The first event is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m., with seven creatively focused downtown businesses open to the public.
Those businesses are:
- Carnegie Arts Center, 250 N. Broadway
- Colossal Tattoo, 429 E. Main St.
- Gallery Finesse, 128 N. Center St.
- Paper Moon Stationery and Art Supply, 120 W. Main St.
- The Pink Duck Art Gallery, 141 N. Center St.
- Rustic Roots, 231 E. Main St.
- Stan State Art Space, 226 N. First St.
A free reception will also be held to celebrate the opening of CAC’s newest Lobby Gallery exhibition, “On the Edge: Abstraction at Work,” featuring more than 50 works by regional artists. Additional Art Around Town events are planned for May 7, Aug. 6 and Nov. 7.
