Turlock police seek community members to advise chief
Turlock’s police chief is seeking community members to serve on the advisory board that provides input to the department.
The Community Advisory Board to the Chief of Police is made up of residents who offer insight, perspective and recommendations to Police Chief Jason Hedden. The board first met in 2021 and consisted of 11 members.
Board members, who will serve a two-year term, help review crime trends, department policies, community concerns, technology and deployment strategies. They are expected to attend scheduled meetings, provide feedback and adhere to a code of conduct.
“We are seeking applicants who want to be actively involved and represent the diverse perspectives of our community, including residents, local business owners, educators, faith leaders, and others who want to make a meaningful impact,” reads a Facebook post from TPD.
Members are appointed by the chief following a review of applications, resumes and a background check.
Applicants must be at least 21 years old and either a resident or a Turlock community representative, such as a local business owner, Latino community representative, school district leader or faith leader.
The application asks individuals if they have been convicted of a crime, served a jail sentence or been placed on probation, excluding juvenile offenses. Applicants also are asked to provide employment history and explain their interest in serving on the board.
Applications and resumes must be submitted in person or mailed to the Turlock Police Department, 244 N. Broadway, by 5 p.m. Feb. 12.
