A 63-year-old Turlock man was struck and killed in a collision at Golden State Boulevard and Golf Road in Turlock on Monday night. According to a news release by the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to a report of a collision at 7:36 p.m. and found a man lying in the Golden State roadway.

He was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto, where he died. The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office has identified him as David Beard of Turlock.

The preliminary investigation by the CHP indicated that Beard ran east from the west shoulder, directly into the path of the oncoming vehicle as it traveled north on Golden State Boulevard.

The driver of the 2021 Chevrolet pickup truck was identified as 44-year-old Turlock resident Duraye Kinhoo. He remained on the scene and identified himself as the driver of the car that struck the victim.

Kinhoo was not injured and was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He was wearing his seat belt when the accident occurred.

The CHP temporarily closed Golden State Boulevard and set up a detour, minimally impacting drivers.
