Modesto woman killed in crash near Turlock is ID’d by coroner’s office
The person who was killed in a traffic collision late Friday morning near Turlock has been identified by family as Tori (William) Keith, 27, of Modesto.
According to a GoFundMe page set up to help cover the cost of a memorial service, Keith “had a young, wild, and free-living soul that couldn’t be tamed. ... Nothing could stop her from being her, and that was the best thing about her. She is survived by her family and friends, and together we will never let her memory fade. ... It was a blessing to all of us to have been touched by such a beautiful soul.”
The crash occurred about 10:45 a.m. at the intersection of Harding Avenue and Golf Road near Turlock, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The preliminary investigation found that Keith had been eastbound on Harding, driving a 2001 Honda sedan, and stopped at a stop sign at the intersection.
She accelerated out of the stop and into the path of 2013 Chevrolet driven by a 19-year-old Turlock resident. That driver was heading south on Golf, which has the right of way and is not required to stop at the intersection.
The Chevrolet broadsided the Honda, and Keith was pronounced dead at the scene. The Turlock teen was not injured.
Keith was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision, according to a CHP press release.
