Used fireworks in trash bin spark blaze that displaces Turlock family, officials say
Used fireworks in a trash can sparked a Monday night blaze that displaced three people, the Turlock Fire Department reported.
Firefighters responded at about 11:10 p.m. on the Fourth of July to a house on the 2200 block of Joynichole Drive, just north of Pedras Road.
Firefighters contained the flames to an exterior wall and the attic in about half an hour, but two adults and a minor were displaced, a news release said.
The cause was determined to be fireworks placed in a trash can up against the house, the release said. No injuries were reported to the residents or 15 firefighters.
The Independence Day weekend was typically busy for fire crews around Stanislaus County, although fireworks were not confirmed in the other initial reports.
