The Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit has yet to determine what sparked a Sunday blaze that burned a refrigerated tractor trailer and part of a business building, Turlock Fire Capt. Jason Bernard said.

The fire at Northern Refrigerated Transportation caused $25,000 in property damage and $400,000 in product loss, which Bernard said included cooking oils and cheese in the trailer.

Turlock fire crews responded to reports of a fire at 2700 W. Main St. at 1:40 p.m. Sunday, the Turlock Fire Department said in a press release. They found a 53-foot refrigerated tractor trailer on fire and contained it, the release said.

Crews also determined the fire extended into the building through the loading dock door, but a sprinkler system reportedly kept the fire under control. The damages and loss estimates included burned pallets inside the building and the tractor trailer itself, Bernard said.

All Northern Refrigerated Transportation employees were accounted for by the time crews checked inside the building, the department said. No injuries were reported.

County resource partners helped Turlock Fire with the incident and a total of 26 firefighters responded, the department said.

Information about the fire can be reported to the fire investigation unit at 209-525-5537.
