Driver killed in crash east of Turlock, CHP reports

A 32-year-old Hughson man was killed when he crashed his SUV early Sunday east of Turlock, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened about 12:14 a.m. on Vincent Road just north of East Avenue, according to a news release.

The driver of a 2020 Dodge Durango was driving north on Vincent at high speed when he veered of the west edge of the road. He overcorrected, the CHP said, and then went off the east edge of the road.

The SUV struck a power pole and continued into an orchard. It overturned and hit multiple trees before coming to rest on its roof.

Someone in the area heard the crash and called in the report.

At some point during the crash, the driver — who was not wearing his seat belt — was ejected from the vehicle. He was found unresponsive nearby and was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP reported.

It has not been determined whether drugs or alcohol factored in the crash.

The driver’s name has been withheld pending notification of family.
