Crews investigate Turlock fire that destroyed former restaurant near downtown
Investigators on Friday worked to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed an unoccupied commercial building in the 300 block of North Center Street in Turlock, Turlock Fire Capt. Jason Bernard said.
Turlock fire crews responded to the building, formerly a Jura’s Pizza Parlor, at about 11:52 p.m. Thursday and worked with additional Stanislaus County resources into the early morning to control the blaze.
A total of eight fire engines, one fire truck and two battalion chiefs responded to the blaze, Bernard said. Turlock fire crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the building when they first arrived, Bernard said. The building is not currently being used for any business.
The county fire investigations unit is investigating the incident, Bernard said. No estimate for how long the investigation will take was available. Information about the fire can be reported to investigators at 209-525-5573.
