Turlock requested a contract proposal for fire administration services from Modesto after a 3-2 City Council vote last month.

Here’s your chance to weigh in on the subject.

The city as of Jan. 11 is still talking with the Modesto Fire Department about the potential opportunity, Turlock Interim City Manager Sarah Eddy said.

Under a contract for fire administration services, Modesto would manage the Turlock fire department instead of the city maintaining its own fire command staff. The proposal differs from contracts Modesto has with Ceres and Oakdale. Modesto provides all fire services for the two cities.

The proposal is in the works while a consultant works on a comprehensive review of the Turlock Fire Department. Turlock is paying the consultant about $80,000 for the study expected to be completed around May.
